One Direction have a fight on their hands if they want to secure their fourth UK Number 1 single this weekend.
One Direction’s new single, Story Of My Life, is facing tough competition from Eminem’s The Monster FT Rihanna and the Calvin Harris remix of Fatboy Slim’s Eat Sleep Rave Repeat in this week’s Official Singles Chart race.
Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis’ track, which was in pole position on Wednesday’s Official Chart Update, maintains its lead on today’s sales flash. However, according to the Official Chart Company’s latest sales data, less than 3,000 copies currently separate the Top 3.
Eminem’s The Monster FT Rihanna surges seven places to Number 2 today. The track is the fourth single to be released from the US rapper’s upcoming eighth studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Should Eminem manage to overtake One Direction by Saturday night’s final whistle, it will be his first UK chart topper in almost seven years.
Meanwhile, Eat Sleep Rave Repeat (Number 3 today), is set to become Fatboy Slim’s first Top 10 hit since 2001’s double A-side Star 69 / Weapon Of Choice. Whether or not it becomes the 50-year-old superstar DJ’s first Number 1 since 1999’s Praise You is all down to you guys - the British record buying public.
Sales for this week’s Official Singles Chart close at midnight on Saturday night (November 2). Tune into the Official Chart Show with Jameela Jamil on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday from 4pm or log on to www.officialcharts.com from 7pm to find out who really is top of the pops!
