Olivia Rodrigo has announced the release of a brand-new documentary, Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film), which will take fans behind the making of her record-breaking debut album, Sour.

The project will drop on Disney Plus next month (March 25), and was directed by filmmaker Stacey Lee. The inspiration for the film comes from a road trip Olivia took from Salt Lake City (where she films High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) to her hometown Los Angeles, where the ideas for Sour first formed.

Driving Home 2 U will include "new live arrangements of her songs, intimate interviews, and never-before-seen footage from the making of the album," which Olivia mainly constructed with producer Dan Nigro (Conan Gray, Sky Ferreira).

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said: "This is not a concert film per se, but an opportunity to experience first-hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest stars of the day." Watch the teaser for Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film) below.

MORE: Olivia Rodrigo's Official Charts history in full

The breakout star of 2021, Olivia's Sour was that rare break-up album that seemed both deeply personal and highly relatable. It proved to be an almost unprecedented success on the UK albums and singles chart.

With Sour, Olivia became one of few acts to earn the rare Official Chart double, with the album topping the Official Albums Chart while Good 4 U was still top of the Official Singles Chart - the youngest artist in chart history to do so.

She broke yet more records, making UK chart history as the first female artist to occupy three places in the Official Singles Chart Top 5 with Good 4 U (1), Drivers License (4) and Traitor (5) earlier this year. The Official Charts Company also revealed Good 4 U and Drivers License were the second and third biggest songs of 2021 respectively.

Olivia is heading to the UK to perform for the first time this year - her Sour tour comes to British shores starting in June this year.
