Official Singles Chart Update: Olly Murs on track to topple Rihanna
X Factor 2009 runner-up Olly Murs looks set to topple Rihanna’s impressive Autumn run amid the Official Singles Chart this Sunday with new release ‘Dance With Me Tonight’. The Xtra Factor presenter takes an early lead in today’s Official Chart Update and is on course to knock Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ ft. Calvin Harris (2) from the Number 1 spot that it has occupied for five out of the last seven weeks. ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ is taken from Murs’ forthcoming second studio album, ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’, which is out next week.
Nonetheless, there is seemingly no stopping Rihanna, with two singles in today’s Update Top 10 – ‘Take Care’, her collaboration with Drake is today’s Number 9.
This week’s high new entries come courtesy of Kelly Rowland’s ‘Down For Whatever’ (4), the first single from forthcoming solo album ‘Here I Am’. Swedish DJ/producer Avicii is in at 5 with ‘Levels’, featuring an Etta James sample, the Avicii track was also used as a background sample in Flo Rida’s single ‘Good Feeling’, which is at Number 3.
Liverpool songstress and last year’s X Factor runner up, Rebecca Ferguson, enters today at Number 8 with debut single ‘Nothing Real But Love’.
The Top 20 new entries is completed by En Vogue’s 1997 hit ‘Don’t Let Go’, which after its performance by girl group Little Mix on last weekend’s X Factor comes catapulting back into the Official Singles Chart almost 15 years after its original release. Its previous highest chart position was Number 5 back in January 1997.
