This week’s Official Charts Pop Gem was suggested by OfficialCharts.com user Ross Carter, and it’s a rather fitting track for the summer we’ve had in Britain this year…

Zoe – Sunshine On A Rainy Day

Originally released in 1990, Sunshine On A Rainy Day was initially somewhat of a flop for London-born singer / songwriter Zoe (real name Zoe Pollock). It only reaching Number 53 in the Official Singles Charts.

However, after a remixed version by Youth - a founding member of seminal post-punk outfit Killing Joke and a music producer noted for his subsequent work with U2, The Verve and Embrace among many, many others – was released, and it appeared on a TV ad for the Amiga 500 computer, Sunshine On A Rainy Day hit Number 4 in the Official Singles Chart a year later. It became the 18th bestselling song of 1991 in the UK.

Ross says: “Why isn't this song played anymore? Such an anthem. Please help remind people of how great this song was/is.”

We totally agree Ross, so here it is, folks:
