



Recent Official Chart resurgences have proven a smart sync across film and TV can do wonders for a classic hit. Stranger Things introduced Kate Bush to a new crowd, Saltburn saw Sophie Ellis-Bextor rule the zeitgeist and Natasha Bedingfield knows all about the power of a song's cross-media placement.
And the latest sync - or rather *NSYNC - is no different.
Following its inclusion in the latest Marvel Studios movie Deadpool & Wolverine, *NSYNC's 2000 smash Bye Bye Bye returns to the UK Top 20 this week (12) - for the first time in 24 years.
In fact, the track benefits from a 42% week-on-week uplift this week.
*NSYNC's 2000 hit Bye Bye Bye soundtracks the opening scene of Marvel Studios' latest blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Emma Corrin.
Reynolds explains *NSYNC happily gave Deadpool & Wolverine rights to the song, telling Collider.com: "[It’s] important to us too to always acknowledge the people behind this stuff. Nick Pauley, who did the choreography for the Bye Bye Bye dance, and then making sure that *NSYNC had a full and unconditional welcoming into obviously the premiere, but as to be part of some of the fun around this.
"In a certain sense, they’re kind of co-authors of that opening credit sequence, and I think there’s a high bar for that for Deadpool movies."
Bye Bye Bye debuted, and peaked, at Number 3 on the UK's Official Single Chart on its release in 2000; going on to spend three consecutive weeks inside the Top 10 (so far).
