Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds set for highest charting UK album to date
Nick cave And The Bad Seeds are on course for their highest charting UK album to date with Push The Sky Away.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds are on course for their highest charting UK album to date with Push The Sky Away.
According to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' fifteenth studio album, Push The Sky Away, is currently at Number 1 in today’s mid-week chart. Their previous UK career best was with 2008’s Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!, which peaked at Number 4 on the Official Albums Chart.
Push The Sky Away has a clear lead of 6,500 copies on its closest competitor, Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events at this mid-way stage. However, given that the Emeli is nominated for three awards at tonight’s BRITs, it’s not unfeasible that Our Version Of Events could return to Number 1 in its 54th week on the Chart.
Last week’s chart topper, The Motion Picture Cast Recording of Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of Les Miserables, falls two places to Number 3, while Foals’ Holy Fire (4) and Jake Bugg’s debut self-titled album complete this week’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 5.
New entries and high climbers
In addition to Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds’ Push The Sky Away (Number 1), there is just one other new entry on today’s Update.
Acclaimed British blues singer Joe Cocker makes a welcome return to the Official Albums Chart with his first new material in almost three years. Fire It Up, which is Cocker’s twenty-third studio album in a career spanning more than half a century, is new on today’s Official Chart Update at Number 8.
Ahead of this evening’s BRIT Awards, The Script (who are nominated in the International Group category) see their latest album, #3, surge a massive 20 places to Number 24. Similarly, Channel Orange by Frank Ocean (who is nominated for International Male) bounds upwards 14 places from 47 to 33, while Red by Taylor Swift (who is performing at tonight’s ceremony and is nominated for International Female) is up 13 places to Number 12.
The full effects of this year’s BRIT Awards on the Official Singles and Official Albums Charts will be revealed on Sunday.
