New Music Friday - all of this week's biggest new singles, albums and DVD releases, all in one place.
Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new single, album and DVD drops all in one place, only on Official Charts.
First, let's kick off with albums. BTS member RM arrives today with his second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person, which was trailed by lead single Come Back To Me. RM will of course be looking to replicate the success of BTS cohorts Jung Kook and Jimin with the LP, and it's definitely one to keep an eye on as the next chart week unfolds.
US duo Twenty One Pilots also crash into the conversation this week with their seventh album Clancy, the concluding chapter of a body of work that has taken Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun a decade to complete. Clancy's lead single Overcompensate debuted at Number 34 in the UK, becoming their third highest-charting single here following Stressed Out (12) and Heathens (5).
Other long-players arriving this week include US rock group Wallows' latest collection Model and Irish viral sensation Robert Grace's debut album Happy Sad Songs.
Over on singles, the Maneater herself Nelly Furtado continues her comeback trail with banging new track Love Bites, featuring Swedish alt-pop icon Tove Lo, with production from UK dance savant SG Lewis, There will be much more new music to come from Nelly this year, who also takes to the main stage at London's pop festival Mighty Hoopla next weekend.
One of the most promising young stars of British pop, PinkPantheress, makes her return this week with brand new single Turn It Up. It's the first new release from Pink following the release of her debut album, Heaven Knows, last year - which contained collaborations with the likes of Central Cee and Rema.
Other new single drops this week come from Charlie Puth (Hero), British girlgroup FLO, who debut the second single from their long-awaited first album (Caught Up), Becky Hill, who teams up with acclaimed indie artist Self Esteem (True Colours) and Northern Irish singer-songwriter JC Stewart, who returns from a year break (Hey Babe, I'm A Mess, I'm Sorry). Looking through the new album releases & there’s no mention of the person who’s had a No1 album in each of the last 5 decades - yes, including the 2020’s! - who’s 3-out-of-the-last-5 albums were No 1 (in the last 10 years) & has a massive fan base around Europe…yet not good enough to be mentioned here? I’m talking of course about the one and only Paul Weller - what’s all that about???
