New Releases: Nicki Minaj, Tate McRae, The Killers, Kylie Minogue and Griff

This week's essential new single, album and DVD releases - only on Official Charts.

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY

Welcome to your weekly round-up of the biggest new single, album and home entertainment releases, all in one handy place, only on Official Charts.

This week, let's start with albums, where we have two big-hitting LPs finally dropping from a world recognised superstar and a pop star on-the-up who looks set to secure a true breakout moment.

After months (years?) of teasing, Nicki Minaj is set to finally drop Pink Friday 2 tomorrow, the much-hyped sequel record to her influential debut album, Pink Friday. We've heard precious little of the new album, apart from its launch single, Super Freaky Girl which was an effervescent return to dance-pop for Minaj and the more low-key Last Time I Saw You. Get ready to go to Gag City.

On the other end of the pop star spectrum, we find Tate McRae. An Official Charts favourite after her kinetic burst of pop-punk angst, She's All I Wanna Be, became one of 2022's best singles, Tate has really found her groove in the last six months, linking with hitmaker Ryan Tedder for a series of slinky, sexy, hip-hop influenced tracks that have allowed her to tap into her inner Britney.

Today, her second album THINK LATER, heralded by the booming greedy (a Number 3 hit in the UK) and the snappy exes, another instant Top 20 hit. It certainly feels like we're witnessing the birth of an old-school pop princess for the first time in a good few years, and THINK LATER will hopefully signal a further breakout for Tate well into 2024.

Other LPs also landing this week include a brand new Extended Mix of Kylie Minogue's chart-topping renaissance project Tension, Afrobeats star Libianca drops a brand new EP Walk Away following the success of UK Number 2 single People and The Killers release a celebratory greatest hits, Rebel Diamonds.

As for singles this week, BRITS Rising Star winner Griff reveals Astronaut, a laid-back, languid ballad which features none other than Coldplay's Chris Martin (!) on the guitar. It follows the similarly contemplative Vertigo from earlier this year, and sets the stage for Griff's debut album in 2024.

Other hot single releases to keep an eye out for this week include the new single by American director-turned-artist Lyrical Lemonade, who is joined by Jack Harlow and Dave on a starry new collab (Stop Giving Me Advice), The Vaccines (Love To Walk Away) and The Wombats singer Murph, whose unveiled a new single from his solo project, Love Fame Tragedy (Don't You Want To Sleep With Someone Normal?).

This is a truly dreadful website that does not do what it promises for those wishing to access the archive. You have changed it and made it a waste of space for anyone trying to access previous years and previous charts. I have tried and tried to use it to access artists and charts for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of books and articles I am writing but this site does not show the charts or the names of records with which artists had hits. Try using what you have created and see what a waste of space and time you have created. Please go back to the old system. You are sitting on an invaluable archive but it seems to me it is currently inaccessible.
