New Releases: Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Ezra Collective, JADE and more!
Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.
First, let's tackle albums.
Lady Gaga always has an ace (or in this case, a Joker) in the pack! Ahead of the theatrical debut of Joker: Foile A Deux (in which she plays Harley Quinn), Gaga is debuting a brand new album (marketed as LG 6.5, a halfway between Chromatica and her upcoming seventh album, the lead single of which is expected next month), Harlequin will be mostly comprised of classic standards, such as The Joker and Smile, which Gaga and co-0star Joaquin Phoenix will cover in the film, as well as two brand-new tracks, written by Gaga and her frequent collaborators Michael Rice and BloodPop. We can already smell that second Oscar, hun!
Coming off the back of last year's win at the Mercury Prize for their acclaimed third album Where I'm Meant To Be, Ezra Collective will be looking for their fourth LP, Dance, No One's Watching, to be a true breakout record. Could the experimental nu-jazz band be within touching distancer of a landmark first Top 10 album in the UK?
It's a bittersweet New Music Friday for fans of the boundary-pushing, genre-bending mastermind SOPHIE. Following her tragic death in 2021, SOPHIE's family have been working hard on mastering her second (and final) album. The self-titled SOPHIE arrives with a host of collaborators - from Kim Petras and BC Kingdom to LIZ and Bibi Bourelly - and is a final, shining testament to an artist whose influence on pop music can still be felt everywhere. SOPHIE forever.
Over on singles, can you hear that Padam Padam in the distance? Queen of Tension Kylie Minogue sashays in with another addictive pop bop, Lights, Camera, Action, which functions as the true lead single for her upcoming Tension II release. Co-written by Padam Padam scribe Ina Wroldsen, here's hoping that viral lightning strikes twice.
Giddy up, baby! JADE instantly became one of British pop's brightest hopes with the release of her debut single Angel Of My Dreams, an experimental and deeply ambitious track that was a true hit for the solo star, spending 9 weeks in the UK Top 20 and becoming the first solo Little Mix track to chart two weeks in the Top 10. While JADE is still keeping us waiting for her true second single, the gap is being filled with the even more experimental and abrasive Midnight Cowboy, a cheeky and sensual nod to Beyoncé's RENAISSANCE, which also features background vocals by Doctor Who himself, Ncuti Gatwa.
Elsewhere this week, we also have brand new singles on the way from The Weeknd and Playboi Carti (Timeless), Rose Gray (Switch) and The Cure's first single in 16 years (Alone).

For once a decent set of New Music Friday contenders because it didn't ignore the Legendary and Independent artists efforts this one when your New Music Fridays normally ignores everything thats 20+ years or Indie you are starting to learn this is what we want promoted which is all the new music out on the Friday this is a more decent good attempt but it's still not all of what K-OCC offer though.
This still ignores New Novelty records. New Afrobeats Releases. New Asian Releases. New British Asian Releases, New French Releases As It's Run By The British, New Irish Releases and New Billboard Releases before they hit the Kantar run separates.
How are they supposed to hit the UK main chart for more of a mix and less of the same old tracks sticking forever in the Top 10 if they don't get the publicity for people to want to listen to them by being on the frontpage every Friday.
Give us the full new tracklist of Singles for all the separate charts George including the Heritage, Legacy and new last week Revival Charts new tracks published on the frontpage on Fridays and we'll have a great new music fridays to listen to every week this one was decent but still not all there because it's still letting some Heritage tracks stay on 5-999 listens on YouTube Music when if it was on here they would have a couple of k to millions by now and maybe the billions after a couple of years making old artists new music successful rather than old re-entries of the same music by those same artists on a new music chart that is supposed to be for new music not classics although I enjoy classics going in it's better to get the Heritage in as well and the only way to get it in is to win them the big streaming points for them to beat their own oldies for the chart spots George.
Although I think we gotta allow oldies in for a new film an advert superstar death ect their new records are under promoted so they are not treaming or charting george you gotta do this better and good start this week by putting in pre 2004 Nile Rogers new records just keep this promoting going.
It would be nice to see stuff hitting 1-999 plays like The Automatics, The Starjets, and The Cathodes (Dave Forward's Landing Party Former 80s and 90s Live Only Band With New Modern Artist Members Added And A Former BBC 80s and 90s Musician Included As Well In The New Lineup Doing Recorded Music Finally In The 2020s) get to the ks with promotion on this New Music Fridays as well as others who struggle in streaming to start getting the streaming numbers on their new streaming music the rest of the artists from these charts seem to be hitting the physical sales just fine but to chart proper Top 100 they need to be hitting the streams not only the sales.
The 3 above though don't seem to be hitting sales though because they only sell their digital records these days via email or they only sell things through themselves or Creative and Dreams on a CD but the setting it up is too hard for them so their best chance to chart is those digital YouTube Music, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal, Bandcamp Paid Downloads and Free Streams or Soundcloud Indie Streams or Apple Audio Streams where they automatically qualify as all legal streams automatically have codes but no publicity means no streams or bandcamps for these small now some formally big artists George.
Get some Cathodes, Starjets and Automatics promotion on these and start promoting the other artist ones to hit the sales charts as well because a lot of people do copy and paste this and start streaming them it's the nature of the weekly combined with curiosity killed the cat.
Most of these after this article have hit 1k+ streams it is amazing what this does but it's not done fully right it doesn't have all the new singles listed which works for all the seperates.
