New Releases: Creator Universe, Beyonce, SZA and more
Welcome to your weekly round-up of the biggest new single, album and home entertainment releases, all in one handy place, only on Official Charts.
This week, let's start on singles and a brand, spanking-new track which could be in contention for Christmas Number 1, the biggest and most important Number 1 of the year on the UK's Official Singles Chart.
Creator Universe's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday joins together some of the UK's biggest TikTok influencers for a jaunty cover of Wizzard's 1973 festive glam-rock classic. Can it best the original track's peak of Number 4? It's all to play for as the Christmas Number 1 race kicks off tomorrow - find out more information about that here.
Elsewhere, to celebrate 10 years since she changed the world with that digital drop (ie when her 2013 self-titled album dropped without any prior announcement on iTunes), Beyoncé has (finally) dropped Grown Woman on streaming. Originally teased in early 2013 as the supposed lead single for whatever album Queen B was working on before she shifted focus to her visually-opulent magnum opus, Grown Woman, coming with eclectic production from Timbaland, was included as a bonus music video on Self-Titled, but hasn't been available to listen to...until now! Rejoice. It's Beymas!
Renee Rapp has had quite the breakout year with the launch of her debut album Snow Angel, and she's bookending it with a bold look to her 2024, where she'll ring in the year as the star of the brand-new Mean Girls musical film as Regina George (where, weirdly, Regina seems to be the focus, not Cadey). As such, a brand-new song taken from the soundtrack is coming tomorrow - Not My Fault is a perky, queer-pop banger featuring a sterling guest appearance from Megan Thee Stallion.
We also have more singles dropping this week from pop star AJ Mitchell (Passionate), James Arthur (Sleep Walking) and Celeste (There Will Come A Day).
On albums, SZA is preparing for the long-awaited deluxe edition of her sophomore record SOS, although apparently the project has expanded beyond a mere deluxe edition. Now called Lana, it's been called a brand new body of work, and should include fan favourite track PSA.
New LPs this week also come from Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign (Vultures) and soundtracks from two upcoming films; the musical re-imagining of The Color Purple, starring Halle Bailey and American Idol alum Fantasia and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.
