New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place
New Music Friday Releases October 11 2024

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let's kick off with this week's brand-new singles.

Following the announcement of upcoming LP Songs of a Lost World, their first full-length record in 16 years, The Cure deliver A Fragile Thing. The track follows Alone as the second pre-release cut lifted from Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Roger O'Donnell, Perry Bamonte, Jason Cooper and Reeves Gabrels' 14th studio album, available from November 1.

Former Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander serves up brand-new single Cupid's Bow this week. The latest track taken from his forthcoming solo album Polari, it's produced by Danny L Harle and Finn Keane, AKA EASYFUN.

Swedish singer-songwriter Loreen also marks her return with ethereal dance banger Warning Signs, produced by Jon Shave (Charli xcx, RAYE) and co-written alongside Ina Wrolden (Kylie Minogue, Calvin Harris) and Corey Sanders (Zedd, The Chainsmokers), Loreen explains the track is 'a reminder to slow down, to listen to our bodies and the subtle wisdom it holds.'

The Kid LAROI clings onto the last of summer with a sip of APEROL SPRITZ, Camila Cabello jumps on a remix of Adam Port's Top 20 hit Move and BLACKPINK's JENNIE follows up The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp collab One of the Girls with Mantra.

Elsewhere on the K-pop front, BTS idol JIN serves up an extended version of Super Tuna, as aespa's SYNK: PARALLEL LINE EP sees members KARINA, GISELLE, NINGNING and WINTER showcase four brand-new solo songs.

Now, onto albums.

Still very much livin' that life Von dutch, Charli xcx unleashes the snappily-titled Brat and it's completely different but also still brat. Taking the tracks from her original BRAT LP, Charli recruits the likes of Ariana Grande (Sympathy is a knife), Tinashe (B2b), The 1975 and Jon Hopkins (I might say something stupid) on this totally-reworked record.

At this point we wouldn't be opposed to a 'Brat and it's got a load of sleigh bells over it but also still brat' Christmas album. Just putting that out into the universe.

Tyla drops a deluxe edition of self-titled debut TYLA, launched alongside focus track PUSH 2 START, The Last Dinner Party expand Prelude To Ecstasy with an Acoustic and Covers edition, The Offspring return with Supercharged and country star Jelly Roll serves up his 10th studio release Beautifully Broken.

Former The Housemartins and The Beautiful South singer-songwriter Paul Heaton hopes to secure a third solo chart-topper with The Mighty Several. Paul previously enjoyed Number 1 success with collaborative Jacqui Abbott records Manchester Calling (2020) and N.K-Pop (2022).

And finally, James Blunt vows to change his name by actual deed poll should the 20th anniversary reissue of his Back To Bedlam album top next week's Official Albums Chart. We cannot wait to see how this plays out.
