New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place
NEW MUSIC FRIDAY AUG 16

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Welcome back Lady Gaga! It's been a while since we've had a proper surprise launch from a true pop superstar and today we have not one but two joining us. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have teamed up for the first time ever on duet Die With A Smile, which was only announced last night and debuted in the early hours UK time. Sonically, it seems that Bruno's fasincation with 70s funk leads the way, but this is a show of two equals, both Gaga and Bruno sounding completely in control.

Next, we have an unexpected but brilliant new collaboration from DJ and producer The Blessed Madonna (who recently scored her first UK Top 20 single with Happier ft. Clementine Douglas) and *the* Kylie Minogue. Edge of Saturday Night - out now via Warner - is a bracing dance-floor banger that recalls Tove Lo's recent work with SG Lewis, as well as a sonic cousin to Kylie's vastly underrated opus Impossible Princess. This one will take you right through the weekend to the sunrise on Monday morning.

As the rollout for her forthcoming fifth album continues, Halsey goes grunge on her surprise new single Lonely Is The Muse, a glass-cracking thumper of a rock song about the pain and trauma of picking up the pieces of yourself. Re-assembling yourself is hard. It sounds nothing like the first two tracks we've heard from the album, the Fiona Apple-esque The End and the indie-pop stutters of Lucky. This one will definitely be for fans of Halsey's fourth record, the industrial rock-howl of gothic opera If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power and a reminder that Ashley Frangipane remains one of the most chameleonic forces in pop music.

BLACKPINK member Lisa's solo career continues apace, this week she teams up with Latin goddess Rosalia for a slick new banger called New Woman. If it sounds expensive and luxuriant, that's because it is. New Woman comes with production from Max Martina and ILYA, as well as a co-write from Tove Lol.

Elsewhere, London rave princess Rose Gray offers up her most pop-facing offering yet with the glitchy Angel of Satisfaction, which sounds like Charli xcx's BRAT met Lady Gaga's G.U.Y in the club smoking area.

Other singles this week, we have new drops from Welsh upstart Hannah Grae (Star Crossed Lovers), Lil Boo Thang hitmaker Paul Russell (Homecoming), Jodie Harah (Hit Me Up) and Talia Rae (Shadows).

Now on to albums, and Post Malone's long-awaited country pivot on sixth record F-1 Trillion. Having already helped US superstar Morgan Wallen claim his first UK Top 10 single with I Had Some Help (one of the tracks that lead the country renaissance in the UK this year) and the LP is chock-full of country stars from the other side of the pond, including Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and even Dolly Parton herself.

Fresh off his first UK Number 1 single with Too Sweet, Irish auetur Hozier issues another EP off-shoot of his recent album Unreal, Unearth. Unaired is the second EP to come from Hozier this year and is trailed by its lead single, Nobody's Soldier.

Can somebody match her freak? Tinashe has had one hell of a year so far, with the Janet Jackson-esque track Nasty blowing up online (although it, sadly, missed out on a place inside the UK Top 40). Now, she unleashes QUANTUM BABY, another slice of forward-facing R&B future-pop.

Another breakout star from this year, Mark Ambor, celebrates the success of his debut UK Top 20 single, Belong Together, with a full LP called Rockwood. When we spoke to Mark earlier this summer, he said the record comes from a perspective of authenticity to his experiences and about things and people that are really important to him.
