New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place

New Music Friday Song Album Single Releases January 17th 2025

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let's get straight into this week's singles, shall we?

Kylie Minogue recruits Berlin-born DJ duo YouNotUs (Tobias Bogdon and Gregor Sahm) for a reworked version of Someone For Me, originally included on Kylie's chart-topping 2024 LP Tension II.

Four years after her last official release (2021 Imanbek team-up Baddest), Cher Lloyd is back with brand-new track Head Down. Produced by Goldfingers, Head Down seemingly takes a swipe at the fickle nature of fame, with Cher singing 'I thought I was flying, I was falling / You know, I never saw it coming / Chew me up, spit me out, throw me back on the ground.'

Swag firmly turned on.

Also marking their return, Mumford & Sons deliver RUSHMERE, the title track from their upcoming fifth studio LP, expected March 2.

Aitch dabbles in drum 'n' bass for the first time as he links up with fellow Mancunian Bou on Raving In The Studio. The pair previously teased the single, which samples 2005 Gorillaz hit Feel Good Inc., during Bou's DNB All Stars Warehouse Project set last year, with Aitch making a surprise appearance.

The release comes ahead of Aitch's Mount Kilimanjaro climb later this month, which has already seen the rapper raise over £70,000 for the Down's Syndrome Association. Nice one, lad!

Internationally-acclaimed multihyphenate Nora Fatehi recruits Jason Derulo on Snake; a track fusing East Asian, Indian, and Western pop influences.

On the creation of the track, Nora tells Official Charts: "I told [producer Tommy Brown] that I need a globally-appealing sound, with lyrics that are easy to memorise and sing. Even if you don't know English, you can still sing the hook." Mission accomplished!

Launching 'a new chapter,' Cian Ducrot is back with Who's Making You Feel It? - and it's all thanks to Ed Sheeran. Cian explains: "A few months ago I played this song to Ed Sheeran over some delicious curry. He demanded I put it out next, so here we are!"

Following the success of breakthrough hit Scared To Start - one of the Official biggest songs of 2024 - Cincinnati-born singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi offers up his latest release Midwest Kid. Expect to see Michael perform the track as he supports The Lumineers on their UK arena tour later this year.

Elsewhere, James Arthur drops Celebrate, Jonas Brothers join Marshmello on Slow Motion, Nina Nesbitt unveils latest tune Caledonia and London-born singer-songwriter Arthur Hill returns with Late For The Reservation, lifted from his upcoming EP In The Middle Of Somewhere, arriving February 14.

Now, let's turn our attention to albums.

Mac Miller's second posthumous record Balloonerism lands this week. The previously-unreleased project includes tracks worked on before and after his 2014 mixtape Faces, and will be accompanied by Balloonerism: A Film Based On The Album By Mac Miller.

David Gray will be hoping to net an 11th Top 10 album with his 13th studio release Dear Life, while London pop queen Rose Gray pitches for her first with debut LP Louder, Please.
