New Music Friday Releases Songs Albums October 18 2024

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let's kick off with this week's brand-new singles.

Little Mix's JADE follows up Top 10 debut Angel of My Dreams and Midnight Cowboy with her second official solo single Fantasy. Drawing inspiration from '70s funk, '80s post-disco and '90s R&B, and showcasing JADE's trademark 'kitchen sink' approach to pop, it's a song 'all about sexual fantasies and feeling safe enough with someone to tell them what you want to do.' This one's loopy, kinky and hot - and that's okay! Read our exclusive First Listen of JADE's Fantasy here.

BLACKPINK idol ROSÉ joins forces with Bruno Mars on APT.; her first solo release since 2021 tracks On The Ground and Gone. The New Zealand-born, Australia-raised K-pop star will release her debut LP, rosie, on December 6, explaining: "I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. rosie is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me."

Elsewhere, Sophie Ellis-Bextor introduces her upcoming eighth studio album with dance-pop bop Freedom of the Night, as Gracie Abrams drops That's So True, lifted from the deluxe version of her chart-topping record The Secret of Us.

Need a new boyband in your life? Meet Absnt Mind - a five-piece already performing sold-out shows up and down the country. On new track Daylight the band, made up of Alex Benson, Ashton Henry-Reid, Conor Marcus, Fred Meyer and Oscar Williams, have teamed up with producers Jack Britten and Matt Rad (One Direction, Little Mix); so it's safe to say they're in pretty good hands.

Alt-pop duo Zeztra, also known as sisters Avril and Lorna Meade, release their latest cut Always On My Mind this week, produced by John Reynolds (Sinéad O’Connor, Passenger). Meanwhile, Jodie Harsh remixes Perrie's latest single You Go Your Way, as George Michael releases Careless Whisper on 12-inch vinyl in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

Now, onto albums.

Ready to break the Tension all over again? Kylie Minogue returns with Tension II this week; the sequel to her chart-topping 2023 LP. Alongside focus track Someone For Me, the Aussie superstar's 17th studio album also includes recent singles Lights Camera Action, Edge of Saturday Night, My Oh My, Midnight Ride and Dance Alone.

We may have a chart battle on our hands, though, as Rag'n'Bone Man will be hoping to replicate the Number 1 success of his Human and Life By Misadventure records with latest release What Do You Believe In? Can the East Sussex-born singer-songwriter make it a hat-trick of chart-toppers next week?

Elsewhere, North Wales native CATTY releases debut solo EP Healing Out of Spite, Australian electro-pop outfit Confidence Man serve up their third full-length project 3AM (LA LA LA) and The Blessed Madonna delivers Godspeed.

Oh, and don't forget that this Saturday (October 19) is National Album Day; this year celebrating Great British groups. See the full list of National Album Day 2024 vinyl releases here.

You've mixed up two albums in the singles, both of which have singles releases, whilst you've left them out of the albums. You should be able to work out which.
Perhaps if you paid less attention to nobody Aussie artists with new releases (not saying they aren't any good, but so many ARE unknown), you wouldn't make so many mistakes like this.
