New Music Friday Releases: Eminem, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue and more

New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place

New Music Friday Releases 12 July 2024

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let’s get straight into this week’s singles, shall we?

Katy Perry returns with WOMAN'S WORLD, the first single from her newly-announced sixth studio album 143, due for release on September 20. The female empowerment anthem sees Katy assert 'it's a woman's world, and you're lucky to be living in it;' with the accompanying music video set to be very kitsch and very Katy.

Ahead of her headline BST Hyde Park performance this Saturday (July 13), Kylie Minogue teams up with Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo on My Oh My. Written by pop royalty Ina Wroldsen, Steve Mac and Lo, and produced by Mac, can My Oh My replicate the Top 10 success of Padam Padam?

Elsewhere, Teddy Swims drops latest track Funeral, Dasha follows her first-ever UK Top 10 single Austin with Didn't I and Rema returns with YAYO.

Now, let’s talk albums.

Eminem bids farewell to his alter ego with his twelfth studio LP The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). Could the album, which includes Official Number 1 single Houdini and Big Sean and BabyTron team-up Tobey, earn the Detroit rapper an eleventh chart-topping record in the UK?

After touring with the likes of Coldplay and Taylor Swift, Griff finally releases the much-anticipated Vertigo. The debut album from the BRITs Rising Star 2021 winner includes the singles Astronaut, Miss Me Too, Anything and title track Vertigo.

BRITs Rising Star 2022 nominee Cat Burns also delivers her debut this week. early twenties sees the Streatham-born singer-songwriter navigate the complexities of adulthood across tracks including go, end game and healing; a brand-new collaboration with soul icon India.Arie.

Austria-born, UK-based producer salute releases their debut LP TRUE MAGIC, featuring collaborations with the likes of Rina Sawayama (saving flowers), Disclosure (lift off!) and LEILAH (perfect and drive). On hearing the album in Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio for Apple Music, which saw them work intricately with audio across 16 channels, salute said the record 'sounds f**king amazing.'

Fresh from their tour with old pals The Killers, Travis return with L.A. Times, the group's most 'raw' record since 1999's The Man Who. Liverpool-formed rockers STONE, comprising Fin Power, Alex Smith, Elliot Gill and Sarah Surrage’s, serve up their first full-length collection Fear Life For A Lifetime, as Cigarettes After Sex return with their first new body of work in five years, X’s.

And, finally, OneRepublic are back with their sixth studio LP Artificial Paradise this week. Ryan Tedder and co. will be hoping for a fourth Top 10 entry with the release.

I never see any of this in New Music Friday yet it is New Music for people to listen to and it's only getting 10 plays - 999K on the YouTube Music and others count in the new YouTube Music Audio Versions AI count due to New Music Friday not supporting all of the new music.

Are K-OCC scared that if these lists of all the rest of the new music is also on this page as well were on here that all the generic music would be wiped out of the chart for real music to replace it again because you guys may find real music a lot better.

As expected, Kylie's new single with Bebe and Tove is a mess, and I can't wait to see her flop again. What I'm looking forward to most is seeing her scatter brained fans attacking others and dreaming up ridiculous theories on it's failure. lol

Haven’t you just done the same thing in another article? Blaming Gaga and Taylor’s fans for the failure of Katy’s new single? That aside, I agree the new song from Kylie is lacklustre.

I want to see them promote real music like we get on the Legacy and Heritage Chart pools on New Music Friday as well allow people to make their own mind up what they want charting not make it up for us by giving us only the generic music on new music friday.

Everything you mentioned was the generic loopy lyrics and loopy backgrounds modern pop sounds I'd give a pass to anyway.

But then John Carr on the real music has caved into that sound in his own right making him a bit recently as well mind you but even his sound is still better than most of this.

Heritage mostly has pop music with soul in it though and often not very generic at all.
