Emeli Sande producer Naughty Boy looks set to knock Daft Punk’s Get Lucky off the Official Singles Chart Number 1 spot on Sunday with La La La FT Sam Smith.
Naughty Boy (real name Shahid Khan) shot to fame as a record producer in 2009, and, to date, he has collaborated with the likes of Emeli Sande, Wiley, Chipmunk, Leona Lewis, Tinie Tempah and Rihanna, to name but a few.
La La La is currently 34,000 copies ahead of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky (Number 2) at this midway stage. If Naughty Boy can hold onto the top spot ‘til Saturday’s final whistle, it will be his first ever Number 1 as a lead artist. La La La is taken from Naughty Boy’sforthcoming debut album Hotel Cabana.
Passenger falls one place to Number 3 with Let Her Go, while Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Can’t Hold Us FT Ray Dalton and Rudimental’s Waiting All Night FT Ella Eyre remain static at Number 4 and Number 5, respectively.
New Entries and High Climbers
In addition to Naughty Boy’s La La La FT Sam Smith (Number 1), there are two other new entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart Update.
The 1975 look set to score their second Top 40 single on Sunday with The City (20). The City is the lead track of the band’s newly released IV EP, and is the follow-up to their Top 20 hit Chocolate. Gianluca Bezzina, who represented Malta at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, is new in at Number 37 with Tomorrow.
Speaking of Eurovision, this week’s highest climber comes from Denmark’s winning entry, Emmelie De Forest’s Only Teardrops, which shoots up 89 places to Number 10. You can see our full Eurovision chart analysis here.
Evanescence’s 2003 Number 1 smash Bring Me To Life climbs 86 places to Number 32 after Aliki Chrysochou performed it on Britain’s Got Talent over the weekend, while We Own It (Fast & Furious) by 2 Chainz FT Wiz Khalifa climbs 55 places to Number 6.
