Mumford & Sons' Wilder Mind takes early lead in Official Albums Chart race
Mumford & Sons are on course to claim the top spot on this week’s Official Albums Chart with Wilder Mind.
The folk-rock band’s third studio album has taken an early lead on today’s Official Chart Update, knocking last week’s Number 1 from Blur, The Magic Whip, down to 2.
Mumford & Sons topped the chart with their last album, Babel, in September 2012. To date, the record has sold just over one million copies.
Meanwhile, Sia’s 1000 Forms Of Fear could reach a new peak on the tally, jumping ten places to Number 3 on today’s Update. Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour bounces back into the Top 5 at 4, and Ed Sheeran’s X is at 5.
New entries and high climbers
Olly Murs’ latest album Never Been Better zooms from 25 to Number 6, Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction is back in the Top 10 at Number 7, and London rapper JME is almost certain to score his first Top 40 album this week with his third album Integrity>, new at Number 8.
Outside the Top 10, British rockers Django Django start at Number 14 with their second album Born Under Saturn, and former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan lands at 17 with her third album We Are.
Palma Violets enter at Number 21 with their second LP Danger In The Club, and My Morning Jacket could earn their first UK Top 40 album this week with The Waterfall, currently at 29.
Finally, Ciara’s Jackie (30) and Jethro Tull’s Minstrel In The Gallery (31) are on course to enter this week’s Top 40.
