Mumford And Sons back at Number 1 on Official Record Store Chart

Mumford And Sons’ Babel has climbed back to the top of the Official Record Store Chart.

The English folk rock band’s second album was the most purchased release in the nation’s independent record shops last week, knocking former chart toppers Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! down to third place.

Jake Bugg is a non-mover at Number 2 with his self-titled debut album. English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Khan – AKA Bat For Lashes – is at Number 4 with The Haunted Man, while Taylor Swift’s Red, which debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart on Sunday, is at Number 5.

The Official Record Store Chart was launched in April of this year by the Official Charts Company and the organizers of Record Store Day UK to reflect sales of the UK’S coolest and most vibrant independent record shops.

New Entries

Emeli Sande makes her Official Record Store Chart debut at Number 7 with the deluxe edition of Our Version Of Events, while Lower Than Atlantis enter the chart at Number 9 with their major label debut, Changing Tune. Interpol frontman Paul Banks’ second solo album, Banks, occupies the Number 13 spot, and former Mercury Music Prize nominee Kate Rusby’s third album, 20, enters the chart at Number 14.

Stone Sour’s fourth studio album, House Of Gold And Bones – Part 1 is new in at Number 17, while N-Dubz star Dappy’s debut album, Bad Intentions, is at Number 27.

Other new entries on this week’s chart include Paloma Faith’s Fall To Grace (29), the 25th anniversary edition of former Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel’s So (32), …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead’s Lost Songs (33), Lawson’s Chapman Square (35), Django Django’s self-titled album (36), Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here (38), Tame Impala’s Innerspeaker (39) and Queen’s Innuendo (40).
