Missy Elliott's Top 20 biggest singles on the Official UK Chart
From the moment Missy Elliot emerged in 1997 with her debut single The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly), she set a high standard for female hip-hop artists.
Missy raised the bar when it comes to creative visuals, forging longtime partnerships with directors Hype Williams and Dave Meyers - as well as bringing shoulder-popping to the masses. She's also is a prolific collaborator, regularly teaming up with producers including Timbaland and Pharrell, pop stars such as Christina Aguilera, Pussycat Dolls and Little Mix, and rappers including Dr Dre, A$AP Ferg and J Cole.
Missy is also a five-time Grammy Award winner and was the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019. Her global record sales reportedly exceed 30 million, including over five million in the UK, according to Official Charts Company data. View Missy Elliott's Official UK Chart history in full.
Her biggest single in the UK is 2001’s Get Ur Freak On, a Number 4 hit on the Official Singles Chart in 2001, with 562,000 chart sales. The track featured on her Miss E… So Addictive Album, which was co-produced by longtime collaborator Timbaland and ranks as her biggest album overall with 316,000 chart sales. Another single from the album, Top 10 hit One Minute Man, places tenth.
Missy’s second biggest track is her guest feature on Ciara’s single 1 2 Step, a Number 3 hit in 2005 with 466,000 chart sales to date. It's also her most viewed video in the UK since we starting tracking video plays one year ago, with 2.8 million views.
Missy’s only UK Number 1 single, Mel B collaboration I Want You Back, places sixth on 230,000 chart sales. Despite being the guest star, Mel B says it was Missy who approached her about the song, which she had produced and co-written.
The most recent entry in Missy’s all-time Top 20 is Lizzo collaboration Tempo, a single from Lizzo's 2019 album Cuz I Love You, while other notable hits include Christina Aguilera duet Car Wash – a Top 5 hit in 2004 – at Number 8, and her most recent Top 100 entry, WTF ft. Pharrell, at Number 16.
