Miley Cyrus's biggest albums in the UK ranked and revealed for the first time
Miley Cyrus is the 21st century's most effective pop chameleon.
More so than any of her peers - Taylor Swift aside, of course - Miley has well and truly embraced each album as an 'era'; a self-contained moment in time that differs visually and sonically from things that have come before.
Think of the hip-hop chaos of Bangerz morphing into the wild acid trip of Dead Petz transitioning into the peaceful calm of Younger Now.
This is the work of an artist who has an extraordinary relationship to her music, making each of these heel turns feel necessary and authentic to her...in those moments of time, of course.
Now as Miley's latest venture - the cool and coherent Endless Summer Vacation - heads to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, we're looking back at her various eras and revealing Miley Cyrus' biggest LPs in the UK for the first time ever.

10. Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz
Released: 2015
Official Albums Chart peak: N/A
What do you when your last album makes you the world's most chaotic pop superstar? Jack it all in for an anti-commercial psychedelia art-rock record with The Flaming Lips, of course. Dead Petz may have never charted in the UK (it was originally recorded and released outside of Miley's recording contract) but as the years roll by, it seems less like a messy mistake and more like a necessary exorcism of excess.
9. Attention: Miley Live
Released: 2022
Official Albums Chart peak: N/A
The first release under Miley's newly-minted deal with Columbia (she had been with RCA since Bangerz), Attention helped to solidify the much-held belief that Miley is one of generation's most dynamic and charismatic live performers, absolutely ripping through the greatest hits (Wrecking Ball, Party In The USA, The Climb), pitch-perfect covers (Like A Prayer, Heart of Glass) and scintillating new material (You, taken from ESV).
8. She Is Coming - EP
Released: 2019
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 18
Originally part of an intended EP trilogy - She Is Here and She Is Everything would have formed the basis of She Is Miley Cyrus - She Is Coming was unfortunately orphaned (although much of Plastic Harts is formed of songs intended for this project) and deftly switches from the witch-hop of lead single Mother' Daughter (one of her best ever!), the kitsch camp of RuPaul collab Cattitude and the lighters-in-the-air catharsis of The Most.
7. Younger Now
Released: 2017
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 8
Both a deep breath in and taking of stock, Miley took it all back to basics for Younger Now, although the peace she found here would be something she would shatter and fight against in future releases, revealing that nothing is ever as good as you think it seems.
6. Best Of Both Worlds Concert (as Hannah Montana)
Released: 2008
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 29
Without the shades and the hair, you can go anywhere. Miley was introduced to many via her Disney pop idol alter ego, and this was her first-ever charting album in the UK, credited to both Miley and the fictional Hannah. She was right, you really do get the best of both girls.
5. Can't Be Tamed
Released: 2010
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 8
The foundation of the 'Disney girl gone bad' archetype, Miley really meant it when she said she couldn't be tamed. Lead the by the anarchic synth-pop track of the same name (a Number 13 hit in the UK that should have flown further), Can't Be Tamed sees Miley start to deconstruct and rebel her own image for the first time. It worked - in 2010, this was Miley's highest charting placement yet.
4. Plastic Hearts
Released: 2021
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 4
Probably the most consistently brilliant studio album Miley has ever released, Plastic Hearts saw Miley dial up her rock star tendencies to 10, she skirts between full rager (WTF Do I Know), disco diva (Prisoner with Dua Lipa) and anarchic survivor (Midnight Sky), the latter two earning Miley two UK Top 10 singles, facilitating a full-scale comeback that would end with Flowers' domination of conversation and the Official Singles Chart this year. It ranks as the most-streamed of all Miley's albums in the UK.
3. The Time Of Our Lives - EP
Released: 2009
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 17
Probably best known for its lead single Party In The USA (which somehow never even broke the UK Top 10, settling for a peak of Number 11), The Time Of Our Lives was the brief moment where Miley was still technically Hannah Montana, but contemplating what a solo career under her name and her name only for the first time would look like.
2. Bangerz
Released: 2013
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 1
One of the most daring and controversial career re-brands of the 21st century, Bangerz is looked back now mostly for the shock value tactics Miley employed, from swinging naked on wrecking balls to twerking on Robin Thicke at the VMAs. However heavy handed these two were, she certainly had the music to back it up. We Can't Stop is one of the most brilliant pop re-inventions and Wrecking Ball might just be Miley's best-ever song. Whatever the haters said - Miley earned to UK chart-toppers here, she had no-one to answer to but herself.
1. Breakout
Released: 2008
Official Albums Chart peak: Number 10
Yes, this may be surprising...but not when you really think about it.
To people of a certain age (ie, me) Miley Cyrus was a massive deal to the twen market in the late 00s, and Breakout was the first instance of Miley going out on her own.
Also consider the material; 7 Things (25, a crime) had me and every other 12 year old in its grip, the dark and dingy Fly On The Wall (16) was as close to punk as we could get and then we have See You Again (11) the first single release to distinguish Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana. Then and now, one thing is for certain - she's just being Miley.

The Official charts should speak more about other artists!! ED, Taylor, Miley etc...!! these singers are already overrated and have world success...they don't need more ads or news about them!! why can't the OC speak about underrated artists more often!! a chance for us to get to discover them. So many of them deserve success but are not known to the public!! thanks the OC...
