Miley Cyrus wants her Flowers as she launches brand-new era to kickstart 2023

It would be Miley's first material since 2020's Plastic Hearts, and first since signing to a new label.

New year, New Miley.

Miley Cyrus has kickstarted 2023 with some great news - a new single, Flowers, is just days from arriving, the lead single from her upcoming eighth studio album.

Little is known about the new single aside from its release date, January 13 (handily, the birthday of Miley's ex-husband Liam Hemsworth...) but two teasers released in conjunction with Miley's viral New Years Eve Party variety show in the US at least give us a hint in the lyrics.

In one of the videos, Miley can be seen strutting down an LA avenue in a decked-out lamé gold two-piece - "I can love me better," she says in the acapella snippet. "I can love me better baby."

Fans across social media have also been posting posters that have gone up in several cities across the US, seemingly also teasing more lyrics for the song: "I can take myself, dancing, I can buy myself flowers, I can hold my own hand."

Flowers will be Miley's first song since singing to a new label, Columbia, in the US, although she is still signed to long-time label RCA in the UK.

Teasers for Miley's upcoming album seem to confirm it starts with the words E, S and V - with fans deliberating on names such as Ever Since Venus and Endless Summer Vacation.

Whatever the name, we do know that Miley's eighth LP will see her reunite with Mike Will Made It; the producer widely credited as the architect for her sonic re-birth on 2013's chaotic Bangerz, which produced two UK Number 1 singles; We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball.

Miley also recently made headlines thanks to a series of duets on her recent NYE variety show, including a heart-wrenching mash-up of Wrecking Ball and I Will Always Love You with godmother Dolly Parton and a performance of Paris Hilton's kitsch cult-classic Stars Are Blind with Paris herself and Sia, which honestly has to be seen to be believed

2020 saw the release of Miley's most recent album, Plastic Hearts, a pop-rock opus that saw her clinch two Top 10 hits - Midnight Sky (5) and Prisoner with Dua Lipa (8) - which takes her all-time tally up to seven.
