Melissa Steel talks her debut album: “It’s a real mix”
Rising star Melissa Steel has already firmly made her mark on the Official Charts, scoring four Top 40 singles, including two Top 10s. As she takes to the stage on the first run of the Official Charts After Party tour in association with New Look, the Bradford-born singer tells OfficialCharts.com about her as-yet-untitled upcoming debut album.
"Finishing my album is definitely my main goal at the moment,” Steel says. “I’m in the studio constantly just finishing it up and trying to get it the best it can be before next year. I’m plotting and planning!”

Although Steel’s most successful release today has been her collaboration with dance duo Blonde I Loved You, her album is diverse.
“The album is going to be when everyone gets to know me. It’ll show that I’m not in a box, I’m doing a bit of every genre. There’s ballads, garage tracks, house songs, there’s still the Kisses For Breakfast vibe, the island vibe. All of those genres are me.”

While we’ll have to wait until the New Year to hear Steel’s debut, the anticipation is already building, “I’m excited for everyone to hear it. The album tells a story about my life and about things that have happened to me on my journey. I can’t wait for my fans to hear it.”
