The BBC have confirmed details regarding next year's search for the UK's Eurovision hopeful.

Eurovision: You Decide will return for the fourth year in a row, taking place in the North West for the first time at Media City in Salford. Mel Giedroyc and Mans Zelmerlow will be back as hosts, and this time, there's a new twist to the format.

Rather than six shortlisted acts performing a unique song each, this year's shortlisted sextet will be split into pairs, with each pairing performing the same song in contrasting musical styles. The three songs and performers will be revealed in the new year.

Kate Phillips, Controller of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC said: "Forget about a sing-off, next year it’s all about the song-off as we once again try to marry a great singer with a great song, one which could finally get us on the left hand side of the leader board. We may be leaving the EU but we are still determined to win Eurovision again one day!"

Ken Bruce will also be part of the action in Salford; he will chat to the six shortlisted acts on his BBC Radio 2 show on the morning of the selection.

Eurovision: You Decide will be broadcast on BBC Two in February 2019. Since the show returned in 2016, it has led to Joe & Jake, Lucie Jones and SuRie being chosen to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, which hails from Tel Aviv, Isreal in 2019. The United Kingdom last won the contest in 1997.
