Maroon 5 hit Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart

Not only is Maroon 5’s Payphone Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, today it climbs to Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart, too. Plus: See this week's new entries and highest climbers.

Not only is Maroon 5’s Payphone Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, today it climbs to Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart, too.

The Official Streaming Chart, which is compiled by the Official Charts Company on behalf of the British music industry, was launched in May of this year. It is the first chart which ranks audio streams from both ad-funded and subscription streaming services in the UK, to reflect the growing interest in this new generation of music services such as Spotify, Deezer, Blinkbox Music, and Napster.

Payphone has steadily climbed up the chart since it was made available for streaming three weeks ago, and today knocks last week’s Official Streaming Chart-topper, Flo Rida’s Whistle, into second place.

US band Fun. hold firm at Number 3 with We Are Young FT Janelle Monae, while Carly Rea Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe is also a non-mover at Number 4. London electronic quartet Rudimental climb one place to Number 5 with Feel The Love FT John Newman to compelte this week’s Top 5.

New Entries And High Climbers

Taio Cruz FT Pitbull’s There She Goes is this week’s highest new entry, new in at Number 60. Further down the Official Streaming Chart Top 100, Daylight and Lucky Strike, two tracks from Maroon 5’s recently released album Overexposed, debut at Number 98 and 100, respectively, while Linkin Park’s Lost In The Echo is new in at Number 99.

This week’s highest climber is Chris Brown’s Don’t Wake Me Up, which is up a staggering 70 places from Number 90 to Number 20. Will.I.Am’s This Is Love is up 32 places to Number 13, while Maroon 5’s One More Night climbs 28 places from 91 to 63.
