Maroon 5 and Chris Brown take on Will.I.Am in Number 1 race
Will.I.Am is locked in a battle with Maroon 5 and Chris Brown in the race to the top of this week’s Official Singles Chart. Plus: see the Official Singles Chart Update Top 40!
Will.I.Am has a fight on his hands if he wants to hold on to the Number 1 spot this Sunday, according to today’s Official Chart Update. With just 4,000 copies currently separating the Top 3, the Black Eyed Peas singer is locked in a battle with Maroon 5 and Chris Brown in the race to the top of this week’s Official Singles Chart.
Maroon 5’s Payphone, which gave the US rockers their first ever UK Number 1 single two weeks ago, has taken an early lead, climbing up one place back to Number 1. Chris Brown’s Don’t Wake Me Up also climbs one place to 2, while reigning champ Will.I.Am’s This Is Love is at Number 3.
Flo Rida’s Whistle, which is currently topping the Official Streaming Chart, is holding firm at Number 4, and London-based girl group Stooshe complete this week’s Official Chart Update Top 5, climbing three places with Black Heart (5).
New Entries and high climbers
There is just one new entry in today’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40, courtesy of Blur. Under The Westway, which is one of two new tracks the recently reunited Brit pop band debuted live on Twitter on Monday evening (July 2), is new in at Number 28.
Just outside the Top 40, N-Dubz star Dappy’s new track I'm Coming (Tarzan Part 2) is at Number 47 after being on sale for less than 24 hours. The video for the follow-up to his Number 2 hit, Rockstar, which slates the X Factor’s Simon Cowell, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry, premiered on SB.TV yesterday.
This week’s highest climber is Nicki Minaj’s Pound The Alarm, up 14 places to Number 20, while Lady Antebellum climb five places from Number 28 to Number 23 with Need You Now.
