Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk heading for fifth week at singles Number 1
Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are on track to top this week’s Official Singles Chart.
The soul-funk track holds a strong lead on today’s Chart Update, 25,000 sales ahead of its nearest competitor, Philip George’s Wish You Were Mine.
If Uptown Funk holds its position, the song will have spent the most weeks at Number 1 since Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, which spent five non-consecutive weeks at the top in 2013.
Meanwhile, the resurgence of Hozier’s Take Me To Church on the chart continues as he climbs to Number 3. Last Sunday, the song earned its highest chart placing to date after 17 weeks in the Top 40 at Number 5.
Completing the Top 5 are Olly Murs and Demi Lovato’s Up at Number 4, and Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud (5).
New entries and high climbers Sia’s Elastic Heart, which features The Weeknd and Diplo, makes it Top 40 debut at Number 14 on today’s Update. The track, which appears on her latest album 1000 Forms of Fear as well as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, made headlines last week when its accompanying music video staring Shia LaBeouf was released.
Elsewhere, BRITs Critics’ Choice winner James Bay climbs six places to 30 with Hold Back The River, while his new track Scars enters the Top 40 at 33.
New at Number 39 is Kid Ink and Chris Brown’s Hotel, and following its outing on The Voice UK last weekend, Kodaline’s All I Want could claim its highest UK chart placing yet, currently sitting just outside the Top 40 at Number 41.
