Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk on track for fourth week at Number 1
Uptown Funk is set to score a fourth week atop the Official Singles Chart this weekend.
There’s no stopping Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars as the record-breaking Uptown Funk continues its reign. The track, which holds the record for the most audio streams in a single week, has racked up a combined chart sales figure of nearly 50,000 already this week, outselling its nearest competition, newcomer Philip George’s Wish You Were Here (Number 2), by over 26,000 copies at this midweek stage.
At Number 3 today is a new entry from Tchami, Promesses FT Kaleem Taylor. The track will be the first UK Top 40 for the French DJ/producer – real name Martin Bresso – who has supported both Skrillex and Diplo on tour, as well remixing Oliver $, AlunaGeorge and Janet Jackson.
Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud is down one place to 4 today, followed by Olly Murs Up FT Demi Lovato, which climbs one place to Number 5 today following its official EP release.
New entries
Aside from Tchami’s Promesses FT Kaleem Taylor (3), there is just one new entry in this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 40. Tulisa is on track to score her 16th Top 40 (including 12 with N-Dubz and 3 solo Top 20 hits) this weekend with comeback single Living Without You (23).
Kanye West’s surprise new single Only One has climbed 21 places to Number 14 in today’s sales flash after appearing on the chart for the first time on Sunday. The track – which features The Beatles’ legend Paul McCartney – is written from the perspective of Kanye’s late mother Donda, who the rapper says was “singing to me, and through me to my daughter”.
Elsewhere, Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy’s Riptide re-enters the Top 40 today at Number 38.
