Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk is hurtling toward the Official Singles Chart Top 20 just a few hours after going on sale.

The track is currently at Number 22 on today’s Official Singles Chart early sales flash following its release last night (December 8). And with its first full-day sales revealed tomorrow, the song is expected to make a strong midweek debut on Wednesday’s Official Chart Update (December 10).

Last night, it was announced that Uptown Funk would be released in the UK five weeks earlier than scheduled after a well-received performance of the track by Fleur East on last week’s X Factor.

The track, which heads up Mark’s fourth studio album Uptown Special, faces stiff competition from reigning Number 1 Ed Sheeran with Thinking Out Loud, as well as Band Aid 30’s Do They Know It’s Christmas, which gets its full physical release this week, plus a flurry of big new releases from the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Oliver Heldens, Fifth Harmony and more.

Uptown Funk has already entered America’s Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 and the Top 5 in Australia and France. Tune into the Official Chart Update with Scott Mills and Jameela Jamil on BBC Radio 1 tomorrow from 3.30pm and follow @OfficialCharts on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news on Uptown Funk and how the rest of this week’s new entries are faring.
