Mariah Carey announces All I Want For Christmas Is You animated movie
Mariah has dropped a cracker of a reveal.
Christmas has come early. Literally.
Mariah Carey has today announced that a brand-new, animated movie based on her classic Chrimbo single All I Want For Christmas Is You is coming soon! The baubles are clearly still on display in Mariah's World, as the US chanteuse shared the news with her Christmas tree up, and log fire burning. In March.
The breaking news was topped off by Mariah just so coincidentally having a vinyl copy of her classic song at the end of her sofa. That could be a trend that will catch on in our office. Watch the announcement below:

Universal Pictures are behind the project which will be released in cinemas in Winter 2017. The film's trailer, which does not yet have any official footage or announced voice actors, describes the animation as combining "traditions we can't live without" like a Christmas tree, stockings, presents and Mariah Carey, of course.
The moviemakers would be right - Mariah's All I Want For Christmas Is You is arguably the biggest Christmas single of all-time. The track re-charted within the Top 40 for the 10th consecutive year in 2016, hitting the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart for the first time in a decade. AIWFCIY's 2016 peak was Number 5, its highest position since its Number 4 spell back in 2007.
All I Want For Christmas Is You's peak position was in its debut year of 1995, where it just missed out on the Christmas Number 1, scaling to Number 2 behind East 17's Stay Another Day. Look back at the song's complete UK chart history here.
