Lorde knocks OneRepublic off the top of the Official Streaming Chart

The 17-year-old singer/songwriter’s track, Royals, ends OneRepublic’s five week stand at Number 1 with Counting Stars.

It’s all change at the top of the Official Streaming Chart, as Lorde’s Royals ends OneRepublic’s five week run at Number 1 with Counting Stars. Royals made its Official Streaming Chart debut three weeks ago, initially entering at Number 20, before climbing to Number 2 last week.

The New Zealand singer / songwriter, who celebrated her 17th birthday last week, also reached the top spot on the Official Singles Chart last month, denying 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur his second Number 1 with You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You.

Eminem soars a massive 80 places to Number 2 with The Monster FT Rihanna. The track is taken from the US rapper’s Official Number 1 album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. In related news, nearly all of the albums 16 tracks feature in this week’s Official Streaming Chart Top 100 (the only exception being The Marshall Mathers LP 2’s final track, Evil Twin, which debuts at 159 today).

This week’s Top 5 is completed by OneRepublic’s Counting Stars (falling two places to Number 3), Miley CyrusWrecking Ball (4) and Katy Perry’s Roar (5).

New Entries

In addition to 11 new tracks from Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, there are 10 other new entries on this week’s Official Streaming Chart.

Tinie Tempah claims this week’s highest new entry with Children Of The Sun FT John Martin which debuts at 29. Little Mix enter at 31 with Move, while Fatboy Slim’s Eat Sleep Rave Repeat is new in at 48.

Electro duo Icona Pop debut at 65 with All Night, the follow-up to their global hit, I Love It. Lorde’s Buzzcut Season and Team enter at 72 and 74, respectively, while Foxes is at 73.

This week’s new entries are completed by The 1975’s Girls (81), James Arthur’s Get Down (84) and The Wanted’s Show Me Love (America) (100).
