Somewhere Only We Know sprints ahead as race to top Official Singles Charts hots up – with only 2 days to go!
The fight to top this week’s Official Singles Chart goes on – and there’s a new contender leading the way.
On Wednesday’s Official Chart Update, we reported that Bastille’s Of The Night was a whisker ahead of Gary Barlow’s Let Me Go, with just 15 copies separating them. But things shift at the top of the Official Singles Chart quicker than Lady Gaga can get through a costume change, and according to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, Lily Allen has come from behind to take pole position.
Lily’s cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, as featured on the John Lewis Christmas ad campaign, has sneaked ahead and now fewer than 200 copies separate her from chart rivals Bastille. If Somewhere Only We Know manages to hold onto its current position at the top, it will be Lily’s third Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, following in the footsteps of Smile (2006) and The Fear (2009).
If Bastille manage to nudge Lily out of the way by Sunday, it will be their very first Number 1 single. While they have previously topped the Official Albums Chart, their biggest hit single so far is Pompeii, which reached Number 2 in March.
Gary Barlow may have slipped down to bronze position at this stage, but the fight’s not over yet. The Take That frontman currently has 14 Number 1s under his belt – will Let Me Go battle on to become his 15th? There's still everything to play for! Can Gary zoom ahead? You’re in the right place to find out!
It’s the prize ever self-respecting popstar wants to get their hands on – who’ll find victory on Sunday? You’re in the right place to find out!
