Lewis Fitzgerald recruits Libianca for Darling remix: First Listen

If the seemingly-unstoppable reign of Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso on the Official Singles Chart suggests anything, it's that this could be the summer of the laidback, breezy bop.

One artist at the forefront of this trend is rising South London singer-songwriter Lewis Fitzgerald with latest track Darling. Having already proved popular on social media, the track this week receives a brand-new remix featuring Afrobeats sensation Libianca; and the pair have given us a sneaky First Listen ahead of its release on June 7.

'How did this collab come about?,' we hear you ask. Well, with the track already boasting over 6 million TikTok video views, Libianca hopped onto a Darling duet on the app.

"The track pulled to me it was very touching," says Libianca. "Lewis sang soulfully on that record, I couldn't resist!"

"Her voice is mesmerising," adds Lewis. "I was drawn in from her first ad-lib! She's a natural fit for Darling and an incredible human."

Taking the team-up from socials to the studio, Libianca's now recorded her verse for the single's official remix; with the pair debuting the duet at London's XOYO recently.

Providing ad-libs from the off, Libianca's smooth vocals elevate Darling to a whole new level of chill.

"Want it to be picture perfect for you," she sings atop the track's airy acoustic instrumental. "Want to take my time with you...It's not about perfection, it's about progression, promise to protect every essence of your being."

Then comes the sublime joint chorus; Libianca and Lewis's vocals proving perfectly complementary before the final, harmonious crescendo.
