Lewis Capaldi fends off Dua Lipa and Stormzy to claim a sixth week at Number 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart

Six songs make their Top 50 debuts on the first chart of the decade.

Lewis Capaldi is Number 1 on the first Official Irish Singles Chart of 2020.

The Scot’s latest track Before You Go is Number 1 for a sixth week, once again edging out competition from Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now (2) and Stormzy’s Own It ft. Ed Sheeran & Burna Boy (3).

With the abundance of Christmas songs exiting the chart, two songs reach new peaks in the Top 10 this week. Arizona Zervas leads the charge with Roxanne (4) and Camila Cabello gains ground with My Oh My featuring DaBaby (7).

Just outside the top flight, there are new personal bests for Pump It Up by Endor (11), Trevor Daniel’s Falling (12), Blinding Lights by The Weeknd (14), and Dermot Kennedy’s All My Friends (18), while Idina Menzel & Aurora’s Frozen II song Into The Unknown also reaches new heights further down (31).

Compton rapper Roddy Ricch claims this week’s highest new entry with The Box at 25, while July by Noah Cyrus makes its first Top 50 appearance at 35. Houston hip hop artist Don Toliver makes his Official Irish Chart debut at 38 with No Idea, and DaBaby makes his second appearance of the week at 40 with Bop.

Finally two more songs enter the Top 50 for the first time. Canadian singer JP Saxe is at Number 45 with If The World Was Ending featuring Julia Michaels, and Guyanese-American rapper Saint Jhn blooms at Number 48 with Roses.
