Everything we know about Lady Gaga's new album LG7: Release date, lead single, tracklist and more

Gaga debuted two new songs from her seventh album after her performance at the Paris Olympics.

eveything we know about lg7 by lady gaga

Gaga ooh la la! Lady Gaga made headlines around the world this past weekend when she popped up to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games (although the rumoured duet with Celine Dion didn't happen).

Considering that - following the debut of Gaga's long-gestating Chromatica Ball concert film earlier this year - we know, for definite, that her seventh studio album, placeholder title LG7, will arrive this year, it was something of a surprise that Gaga never performed any new material at the Olympic Games...but she had a surprise for fans indeed.

On Sunday night, Gaga posted an Instagram Story, telling fans she would be outside her hotel at midnight to play them a preview of new music. This, alongside the first snippet of new material included right at the end of the Chromatica Ball film, means we have technically three new snippets of Lady Gaga's brand new album.

But what does it all mean?

What LG7 tracks did Lady Gaga preview to fans in Paris?

WELL. From what we can tell (and this is very much our own powers of deduction at work here, given Gaga's camp hasn't given official confirmation either way) that Gaga played very short snippets of two brand-new songs from her laptop while sitting on the sunroof of a limo outside her hotel (iconic, and very chic).

There were actually so many people screaming over the first snippet, you could barely hear any discernible lyrics, but the little preview of production we could hear over the screams sounded (to our ears at least) like a raucous and dare we even say industrial take on electronic pop music. Oh, and then Gaga accidentally played a snippet of Chromatica's lead single Stupid Love, which is entirely her right! Good song!

Re-appearing for a second time, there was slightly more to hear on the second snippet, which again ran for a little less than 20 seconds. This snippet also seemed hard-edged and industrial, with roaring synths and the titillating promise of what we think is a very Born This Way-esque gothic-rock guitar bass line.

Again, we could hear little over the screams of the fans, but it did seem Gaga mouthed along to the words; 'I've become what was holding me.'

Check out the two snippets for yourself below.

Are they different to the song I heard at the end of Lady Gaga's Chromatica Ball film?

Right now, your guess is as good as ours! But, as it stands, these are the facts; The Gaga Chromatica Ball Film played out with a teaser of a brand-new Lady Gaga song.

Starting with a stuttering synth-pop beat, Gaga growls 'dance in the shadow of the...' before the synths distort and cut out. Altogether, the snippet of actual music lasts less than 10 seconds, so not a lot to go off.

But this hasn't stopped the Little Monsters from putting their deerstalker hats on and going to investigate.

When is the first single from Lady Gaga's LG7 released?

The first single from LG7 is expected in October 2024.

When is Lady Gaga releasing LG7?

Again, we wish we had more concrete information for you. But, as of right now, there has been no announcement on LG7's release date (or even what the album's proper title is).

However! We can do some hypothesising on when we might be able to expect it; and all signs point to its arrival being quite soon.

As you probably already know, Lady Gaga has a film coming out later this year. She'll be starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux as Harley Quinn, with the sequel (which all signs point to being a musical! God help us!) set to arrive in cinemas October 4 2024.

Given the rigmarole of a Lady Gaga press tour with the promise of an Oscar nomination no doubt looming on the horizon, LG7 will appear this year (we think!) but it's now a guessing game as to when. Before Joker? After Joker? During the press tour to make things even more chaotic? Who knows!

Remember; a queen (or in this case, Mother) is never late. Everyone else is simply early!

i think she’ll be more focused on promoting joker this autumn? 2025 seems more likely but i’ll welcome any date for a new gaga album, so long as it isn’t too far away bc i’m really looking forward to it. always loved a bit of gaga
