Good news! Lady Gaga confirms a Telephone sequel with Beyoncé could still happen
You've been a very bad, bad girl, Gaga...

It's one of the most memorable - and eye-catching - pop collaborations in all of pop culture, but for years, people (gay men) have been screaming in unison; wait...when are Lady Gaga and Beyoncé going to follow-up the 'to be continued' Telephone video?
It's the question we've all been asking ourselves since the cliffhanger ending of the manic and blockbuster Telephone music video all the way back in 2010 (!), with our two beleaguered heroines on the run from the police.
Ever since - and, bare in mind, a whole 15 years has now passed...your welcome - we've been wondering when the story of Gaga and her Honey Bee would get a continuation. And it turns out...this is still very much on the cards!
In a brand new interview with Vanity Fair, Gaga (who was hooked up to a lie detector, so you know she's telling the truth!) was asked if the video for Telephone would ever be continued...and she answered with a certainly hesitant "yes."
As for Bey's involvement? Gaga was a bit more cagey on that, answering "maybe" to the question if the Queen Bey herself would be involved with any Telephone continuation. Pressing further, the interview asked if a delay to a proposed Telephone sequel had been complicated by the two superstar's conflicting schedules, which Gaga confirmed was not the case.
The prospect of a Telephone sequel has long loomed large in Gaga's discography. It was rumoured that Aura, a track from her chaotic third album ARTPOP, was written with the intention of continuing the song's narrative, but it was never chosen as a single, so wasn't given a music video.
Originally included on Gaga's 2009 mini-album The Fame Monster (an expanded deluxe edition of her debut album The Fame), Telephone was officially released as its second single in January 2010. Thanks to its proto-viral music video - directed by Jonas Åkerlund - the track became a sensation, peaking at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in May 2020. It was Gaga's fourth UK Number 1 single at this time (her all-time tally now stands at six), while it was Bey's fifth (she now also has six, Telephone was her last UK chart-topper until TEXAS HOLD 'EM reached Number 1 last year).
According to Official Charts Company data, Telephone has shifted 1.6 million chart units in the UK (including over 700,000 digital downloads), and ranks as the sixth-biggest song in both Gaga and Beyoncé's overall discographies.
As for when we can expect this Telephone sequel to arrive...could it be on the tracklist for Gaga's forthcoming seventh album MAYHEM? The LP - while not released yet - has proved to be a major commercial comeback for Mother Monster, its three singles have all charted within the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart; Die With A Smile with Bruno Mars (2), Disease (7) and Abracadabra (3),
Come on, ladies, pick up the phone...you know you want to!
