Keane on course for fifth Official Albums Chart Number 1!

Keane could be on course for their fifth Official Albums Chart Number 1 this Sunday, according to today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

The East Sussex rockers, whose first three albums – 2004’s Hopes And Fears, 2006’s Under The Iron Sea and 2008’s Perfect Symmetry – and their 2010 EP, Night Train, have all debuted at the top of the Official Albums Chart, are currently outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined with their latest release, Strangeland.

Arctic Monkeys / Robbie Williams / Jarvis Cocker collaborator, Richard Hawley, looks set to score his highest ever solo chart position. The Sheffield-born singer, songwriter and producer, fresh from last week’s appearance on Later with Jools Holland, has this week released his seventh studio album, Standing At The Sky's Edge, and looks likely to debut on the Official Albums Chart at Number 2.

Following her performance on The Voice this past weekend, Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events climbs five places to Number 3, while Adele’s mega-selling 21 album slips one place to Number 4. The Cribs complete this week’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 5 with their latest release, In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, new in at Number 5.

New Entries

Keane (1), Richard Hawley (2) and The Cribs (5) spearhead 11 new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart Update. Barbados popsters Cover Drive look set to go Top 10 this weekend with their debut album Bajan Style on course for Number 7, while seminal Irish rockers My Bloody Valentine have two new entries on today’s Update: EPs 1988-1991, which collects together three of their Creation Records EPs, is at Number 22, while the deluxe re-issue of their 1991 second album, Loveless, is at Number 34.

Scottish twins Charlie and Craig Reid, AKA The Proclaimers, are back with their first new material in almost three years. The duo’s latest album, Like Comedy, is on course to debut at Number 23. Atlanta rapper B.o.B.’s new album, Strange Clouds, which features the Top 10 single So Good, is new at 24, while Storm Corrosion, the new project from Opeth frontman Mikael Akerfeldt and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson, is at Number 25. London dandy King Charles looks set to enter the Official Albums Chart at Number 26 with his debut album, Loveblood, and Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn’s new solo album, Dr Dee, is new in at Number 39.
