Katy Perry is still queen of the Official Singles Chart with Roar, while Coldplay and Example set for high new entries!

Katy Perry looks set to spend a second week at Number 1 with Roar, the Official Charts Company can reveal.

The US singer shot straight to the top of the Official Singles Chart on Sunday with the lead track from her forthcoming album, Prism. Roar sold a massive 179,500 copies in its first week on sale, becoming the fastest selling UK single of Katy’s career, and the third fastest selling single of 2013 so far (behind Avicii’s Wake Me Up and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines).

Roar has sold an additional 50,000 copies so far this week, to put it into pole position on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.

Ellie Goulding, whose three week stand at Number 1 was ended on Sunday, holds firm at Number 2 today, while Avicii’s Wake Me Up (Number 3) and Klangkarussell’s Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine) FT Will Heard (4) also remain static. Drake’s Hold On We're Going Home FT Majid Jordan climbs one place today to Number 5.

New Entries and High Climbers

Coldplay are on course for this week’s highest new entry. The Brit band’s new single, Atlas, is taken from the soundtrack to the new Hunger Games film Catching Fire. Atlas enters the Official Singles Chart Update at Number 7 today.

Example is also Top 10-bound. All The Wrong Places, the lead single from his upcoming fifth album, is new in at Number 9, while Lethal Bizzle is heading towards his seventh Top 40 single with Party Right (26).

Swedish House Mafia soar 92 places to Number 30 with Don’t You Worry Child FT John Martin. Arctic Monkey’s R U Mine re-enters at 33, and Mutya Keisha Siobhan, who narrowly missing out on a Top 40 placing on Sunday by releasing late in the week, climb 10 places to Number 40 today with Flatline.

And finally, Arcade Fire could also be heading for the Top 40 this weekend with their new single Reflektor. The track, which features David Bowie, was released at 9pm on Monday evening (September 9). Reflektor is at Number 48 on today’s Official Singles Chart Update based on sales up to midnight last night.
