Remember how, last summer, we brought you a sneaky First Listen of Kamille's break-up bop weight loss? Well, a lot's happened since then.

Not only has Kamille scored a Number 1 single (as co-writer of David Guetta and Bebe Rexha's I'm Good (Blue)) and been nominated for a GRAMMY for that very same track, but she's also welcomed a baby son. Congrats, gorge!

But pregnancy certainly didn't keep Kamille away from her true passion; music. As well as hitting the studio with the likes of FLO, Kylie Minogue and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, this week Kamille releases her brand-new track Muscle Memory.

The latest taste of her upcoming solo album, Muscle Memory was entirely self-written and produced by Kamille and features none other than Chic legend Nile Rodgers. Casual.

And, ahead of its release this Friday May 12, Kamille's only gone and given us an exclusive First Listen.

From the off, Muscle Memory asserts itself as an '80s-tinged track that's more a pastiche than a parody. While its instrumental's rooted in nostalgic, classic Motown gloss, it's contemporary and 2023 chart-ready.

'Middle of the dancefloor on a Saturday night, I don't need no liquor, don't need no flashing lights,' Kamille sings atop the funkiest of guitar licks. 'Tears in my eyes 'cause I'm 'cause I'm missing you.'

While previous single weight loss was an empowered tale of letting go, Muscle Memory's a story of longing for a love lost.

'I can't find my rhythm, can't shake off my regret, spinning round and round like every word that you said the day that you left...'

Kamille's vocals here are sublime. Smooth, soulful and understated.

'And if you come back to me, it's gon' last forever like it's supposed to be, I'll be dancing all alone until you love me. You make my heart beat again like muscle memory.'

Kamille's inspirations are clear, drawing on the sounds of Whitney Houston and Diana Ross while - being at the production helm - keeping things fresh and forward-thinking.

Speaking about the track, Kamille says: "Muscle Memory was the first idea I wrote and produced from my upcoming body of work. It definitely steered the path for where I headed musically."

Kamille continues: "I wanted to make a song about those lonely Friday nights we’ve all experienced when you’re missing someone… But it’s now turned into the song I put on when I wanna vibe and have fun lol! To have a legend like Nile Rodgers feature on a song made completely by myself is such an honour, and I can’t wait for people to hear more of what’s coming."

Kamille's Muscle Memory featuring Nile Rodgers is released Friday May 12.
