Justin Timberlake is on course to spend a second week at Number 1 with Mirrors.
The US chart-throb topped the Official Singles Chart on Sunday for the first time since his 2006 smash, Sexyback.
Bruno Mars’ latest single, When I Was Your Man, is up five places to Number 2 on today’s Official Chart Update, no doubt buoyed by tickets to his October UK tour arena going on sale – and selling out -last week.
This week’s Top 5 is completed by Bastille’s Pompeii (Number 3), Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop, a non-mover at 4, and One Direction’s former Official Number 1, One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) at 5.
New Entries And High Climbers
There are two new entries and four re-entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40.
18 year old California-raised actress Bridgit Mendler – star of Disney’s Wizards Of Waverly Place and the film Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel – is heading for a UK Top 10 debut on Sunday. The single Ready Or Not, which contains a nod to the Fugees’ 1996 Number 1 of the same name, enters today’s Official Singles Chart Update at Number 7.
Meanwhile, Stereophonics’ latest track, Indian Summer, looks set to make its Top 40 debut this weekend, climbing 11 places to Number 30. It will be the Welsh band’s 25th Top 40 hit as a lead artist.
Fleetwood Mac are on course for this week’s highest re-entry. The band’s 1988 Number 4 hit Everywhere, features as the soundtrack on 3’s new dancing Shetland pony TV advert, embracing their silly side sees the band shoot up 73 places to Number 14.
Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle and her skating partner Dan Whiston performed to Sarah McLachlan’s Angel on last weekend’s Dancing On Ice. The 2002 track is now set to re-enter the Top 40 on Sunday at 34.
This week’s re-entries are completed by Birdy’s cover of Cherry Ghost’s People Help The People (35), featured on the trailer to new ITV drama Broadchurch, and Olly Murs’ former Number 1 hit, Troublemaker FT Flo Rida (37).
And finally, after an unbroken 25 week residency, Psy’s Gangnam Style looks set to leave the Top 40 on Sunday. Gangnam Style became a global YouTubephenomenon, breaking the one billion views barrier, and went on to top the charts in in 27 countries, including the UK. Today it falls three places to Number 41.
