Justin Bieber could knock Adele off Number 1 on this week's Official Singles Chart

Plus there are new entries from Format:B, Years and Years and 99 Souls.

He’s been snapping at Adele’s heels for the last three weeks, but could this Friday see Justin Bieber finally overtake her on the Official Singles Chart?

Bieber’s latest track Sorry is narrowly ahead of Adele’s Hello on today’s Official Chart Update, by just over 150 chart sales at the halfway stage.

Adele has held the top spot on the tally with Hello for the last three weeks, notching up combined sales of over 600,000. The track is currently the fastest-selling song of the year and the UK’s one-week streaming record holder.

Meanwhile, Fleur East’s Sax hold at Number 3, Jess Glynne’s Children In Need single Take Me Home vaults from 20 to 4, and Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself – taken from his new album Purpose – completes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

Following their performance on last night’s X Factor results show, One Direction rebound 16 to 10 with Perfect, and Format:B’s Chunky is new at Number 11. The dance track samples rock band Huey Lewis & The News' 1994 track Function At The Junction.

Ariana Grande’s One Last Time re-enters the Top 40 at 26 following Lauren Murray’s rendition of the track on last weekend’s X Factor, rapper KSI starts at 29 with Keep Up ft. JME, and Years & Years enter at 33 with Eyes Shut.

Finally, UK house duo 99 Souls climb into the Top 40 at 36 with Girl Is Mine ft. Destiny’s Child and Brandy, and Missy Elliot’s comeback track WTF (Where They From) ft. Pharrell is currently just outside the Top 40 at 41.
