Jamie T set to debut at Number 1 with Carry On The Grudge
Jamie T is set to score his highest Official Albums Chart position to date this weekend with his first release in four years, Carry On The Grudge.
If its sales momentum continues into the weekend, the LP will mark a third Top 5 for Jamie, following 2007’s Panic Prevention and 2009’s Kings and Queens which peaked at Numbers 4 and 2, respectively.
Jamie’s Mercury Award nominated debut, Panic Prevention, has also re-entered the Top 40 in today’s midweeks at Number 37.
Elsewhere, George Ezra’s Wanted On Voyage is on track to spend its 11th week in the Top 5, climbing two places to Number 2 today, while Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour (Number 3), Ed Sheeran’s X (4) and Barbara Streisand’s Partners (5) round out today’s Top 5.
New Entries and High Climbers
There are 12 new entries in today’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 40.
Oasis’ 1995 studio album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory (Number 6) is set to re-enter the Top 10 for the first time since 1996 thanks to a deluxe reissue, while Prince’s two new album releases, Art Official Age (7) and collaboration with 3rdEyeGirl, PlectrumElectrum (9) trail just behind the Gallagher brothers.
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is on track for his first solo Top 20 album with his debut Hesitant Alien (11), while SBTRKT enters the chart with second studio release Wonder Where We Land (12).
Alternative rock band Marmozets are set for their first Top 20 this weekend with debut album The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets (14), as Britain’s Got Talent runner up Lucy Kay also makes her debut with Fantasia (15).
Veteran prog rock/pop group Genesis are new at 16 with their career-spanning box set R-Kive, while US singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams is on track for a second Top 40 album with Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone (18).
Abba’s Live At Wembley Arena (20) and The Levellers’ Greatest Hits (21) are both set to enter the Top 40 on Sunday. And finally, after the success of ITV’s biopic Cilla, Cilla Black’s 2013 greatest hits collection, The Very Best Of, climbs 15 places to Number 33 midweek.
