James Vickery and SG Lewis join forces for vibey bop Finally: Premiere
The latest offering from rising R&B singer James Vickery, Finally, sees him team up with production wizard SG Lewis (Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware, Mabel) with understated yet explosive results.
The visual for Finally, which premieres below, sees James cast alone in searing red lights, or driving along the road late at night. It's a great encapsulation for the track itself, which is at once both tranquil and longing.
For the singer-songwriter, Finally - which he and producer SG wrote together - formed the "missing piece" of his record. As luxuriant, electronica-influenced R&B goes, it wouldn't sound out of place of Jessie Ware's opulent second record, Tough Love.

"For the longest time I was missing the anthemic sounding song on the record," James said of the track. Something that took me back to my electronic-produced roots. I picture this being blasted full volume in a festival in the desert. One day, it will happen."
For SG too, the song is a change of pace from the frantic synth-pop of Mabel's latest offering Let Them Know, and the super-charged tracks from his debut album Times from earlier this year.
James first came to the attention of the masses in 2018 with his COLOURS live session of his track Until Morning, which has since racked up 23 million views online and led to him signing record and publishing deals with TH3RD BRAIN and Roc Nation respectively, despite being born deaf in his left ear. His debut album was previously teased with his Musiq Soulchild collaboration, Come To Me.
Songs That Made Me Feel, featuring Finally, is out July 16 via TH3RD BRAIN Records.
