James Arthur's comeback single Say You Won't Let Go has claimed the top spot on this week's Official Trending Chart.

The track tops the list of 20 songs making a big impact in the UK this week, based on movement up the Official Singles Chart (full methodology below).

Say You Won't Let Go - James' first release in almost three years - entered the Top 40 last Friday at Number 25, and this week is battling with The Chainsmokers for the top spot, currently at Number 2.

Calvin Harris is also a big entry on the trending chart this week; his brand new single My Way is on course for a Top 10 debut on Friday's Official Chart. The song follows his Number 2-peaking Rihanna collaboration This Is What You Came For, and marks the first time Calvin hasn't used a guest vocalist for a single since 2014's Summer.

Following the release of the new Bridget Jones film last week, two songs from its accompanying soundtrack hit this week's trending Top 20. The first is Ellie Goulding's Still Falling For You, which looks set for a new peak on this Friday's Official Singles Chart (September 23). The second is Years & Years' Meteorite, a brand new track that is currently inside the Top 100 (65).

Elsewhere, Emeli Sande is making waves with her new single Hurts, which is set to be a big new entry on this week's Official Singles Chart sitting at 18 in the latest sales flash, and Leeds based DJ and producer Tom Zanetti lands on the Official Trending Chart with his latest house banger, You Want Me ft Sadie Ama.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has already highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 singles Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Drake's One Dance.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).
