James Arthur’s mighty comeback continues this week as his latest single leads the way at Number 1 on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.

After climbing 25 places to Number 2 last week, the former X Factor champ’s latest track Say You Won’t Let Go is still pushing forward and is on course to top the tally this Friday (September 30).

If he manages it, it’ll be James’ second Number 1 on the Official Chart, following his X Factor winner’s single Impossible in 2012. Check out his complete history on the Official Chart here.

James told OfficialCharts.com of the track’s success: "It's literally insane. It’s such a whirlwind and I don’t think it has actually sunk in yet. The success of this song has gone way beyond my expectations and I am so grateful that people have connected with it.”

Meanwhile, Canadian singer The Weeknd is set for a massive debut with his new single Starboy ft. Daft Punk, currently at Number 3, and Calvin Harris’ latest track My Way lifts a spot to 4.

New entries and high climbers

Another big new entry this week is set to come from The Songaminute Man. Real name Ted McDermott, the 80-year-old former Butlin's Redcoat rose to internet fame recently as the Alzheimer's sufferer who had landed a record deal after his son Simon posted videos of his father singing during their very own Carpool Karaoke on YouTube.

His single, You Make Me Feel So, was released last week and is heading for this week’s Top 20, currently at 14. Royalties from the track, which was recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London, will go to the Alzheimer’s Society and the McDermott family.

Elsewhere, Offaiah’s Trouble continues to scale the Top 40, up seven spots to 29 on today’s update, and Craig David collaboration with Sigala Ain’t Giving Up could return to the Top 40 this Friday, up two places to 40.
