JADE – or Jade Thirlwall if you're feeling formal – is not messing about. After teasing a new song on Instagram with Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa, has released her new solo single. 

The track is called Midnight Cowboy and isn't a single, but a surprise gift for fans while she readies her next single.

Getting the gays, girls, theys and thems primed for more, you can also hear the beginning of a brand new track, That's Showbiz, Baby!, at the beginning of the video.

 "I didn’t want you all to have to wait so long for music again," JADE wrote on Instagram. "MIDNIGHT COWBOY is a gift from me to you until my next single drops. Oh and there's a visualiser out at 10am BST too."

Giddy up!

Midnight Cowboy is available to stream now. It sees  JADE dishing up another slice of characterful, high-impact, uncategorisable pop. And you may recognise a familiar voice on the track - BAFTA-nominated actor Ncuti Gatwa provides background vocals on the track as Midnight Cowboy's very own MC.

JADE definitely made her splash with her debut solo single Angel of My Dreams, a genre-blurring, Sandie Shaw-sampling pop monster about her love/hate relationship with the music industry.

It dropped in July and has now spent nine weeks in the Top 40 of the Official Singles Chart, peaking so far at Number 7.

Of course, JADE is no stranger to the Official Charts' upper echelons having scored 19 UK Top 10 singles including five Number 1s as a member of Little Mix.

Her announcement adds to an exciting few days for Little Mix fans. JADE's bandmate Perrie has just confirmed that her third solo single You Go Your Way will be released on October 4, ahead of her debut solo album early next year. What a time to be alive.
