Ivor Novello Awards 2021: Harry Styles, Celeste and MNEK among nominees

Harry Styles, Dave, MNEK and Celeste are among the acts nominated for this year's Ivor Novello Awards. 

The awards, which honour British and Irish songwriters and screen composers, will take place on September 21 at London's Grosvenor House.

Styles and his collaborator Kid Harpoon are up for the Songwriter of the Year prize, alongside pop hitmakers MNEK and Kamille, while AJ Tracey and Celeste (with her co-writer Jamie Hartman) are also nominated.

Among those competing in the Best Album category are Fontaines D.C. with A Hero's Death, Lianne La Havas with her self-titled collection, and Laura Marling's Song For Our Daughter. 

Elsewhere, chart-toppers Lewis Capaldi and Joel Corry appear in the Most Performed Work category, Dave and Pa Salieu are among those up for Best Contemporary Song, while rising star Arlo Parks, Headie One and Marina are nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Shaznay Lewis, member and chief songwriter of All Saints and Ivor Novello Award winner/Chair of The Ivors Awards Committee, said: "Over the last year we’ve felt the power of songwriting and the stories told through music. The Ivors are so important because they celebrate where all the music begins - with songwriters and composers.

"The judges have chosen a selection of exceptional music that moves, unites and inspires us. Congratulations to all our nominees, and I’m really delighted that the majority are recognised with an Ivor nomination for the first time.”
