The Greatest Showman has been a cinematic and musical behemoth in 2018, so it's little wonder its much loved soundtrack is Ireland’s biggest album of the year so far.

The Motion Picture Cast Recording amassed 15 weeks at Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart across three separate stints, and has never left the Top 10 since it debuted at Number 10 in January. The album includes hit songs This Is Me, Rewrite The Stars and The Greatest Show.

Current runner-up is Ed Sheeran’s Divide, Ireland's best-selling album of 2017, followed by Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys. The US rapper’s debut Stoney, released in 2016, is at 19.

George Ezra's sophomore effort Staying at Tamara's is in fourth, while at 5 it's pop-rock band Picture This, who also score the biggest album by an Irish act of the year so far - check out the full Top 10 here. The band’s first full-length album topped the Official Irish Albums Chart last August and includes Top 40 hits Never Change and Addicted To You.

Drake's Scorpion, released in July, is already sixth biggest LP of 2018 so far, while the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again sees its cast recording, also released in July, in seventh place.

Ed Sheeran makes two more appearances, with 2014’s X at Number 8 and his 2011 debut  + at 26, Taylor Swift's Reputation is at 9 – the singer performed shows in Ireland this summer – and 10th biggest album of the year is Anne-Marie's debut Speak Your Mind.

Several other debut albums also appear in the YTD Top 40: Niall Horan's Flicker is at 14; Camila, from Camila Cabello, is at 18; Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy comes in at 30; US singer-songwriter Khalid is at 35 with American Teen; and Irish band The Academic are at 37 with Tales From The Backseat.

Following the untimely death of Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan in January, the band’s greatest hits Dreams – The Collection is at 16 after re-entering at Number 3.
