The DVD and Blu-ray release of Immortals has battled its way to the top of this week’s Official Video Chart.
Director Tarsem Singh’s 3D Greek mythology epic - which stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Mickey Rouke and John Hurt - has fought off tough competition from a wave of high profile new releases including Season 1 of critically acclaimed TV series Game Of Thrones (Number 2), Steven Soderbergh’s (Sex, Lies, And Videotape, Oceans Eleven and Erin Brockovich) Contagion (Number 3), and Ryan Gosling and George Clooney’s highly commended political thriller, The Ides Of March, which debuts at Number 8.
High climbers
Undoubtedly spurred on by the pre-Mother’s Day shopping weekend, this week’s highest climber is Sex And The City 2, which is up 126 places from Number 144 to Number 18. Life As We Know It climbs 64 places from 77 to Number 13, the final instalment of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2, is up 55 places to Number 4, and Sherlock Holmes climbs 35 places from Number 41 to this week’s Number 6.
