Icona Pop’s I Love It goes head-to-head with Robin Thicke’s Blurred Li
Swedish duo Icona Pop and Charli XCX look set to end Robin Thicke’s four week stand at Number 1 with Blurred Lines.
He’s topped the Official Singles Chart for the last four weeks with Blurred Lines, but could Robin Thicke’s chart reign be coming to an end?
According to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, electro duo Icona Pop’s track I Love It FT Charli XCX is outselling Thicke’s track by more than 11,000 copies at this mid-way stage, and looks set to debut at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart this Sunday.
Originally released in May of last year in their native Sweden, I Love It has gone Top 10 in 14 countries across the globe, and has featured in US TV shows such as Jersey Shore spin-off Snooki & JWoww, The Vampire Dairies, Girls and it has even been covered by the cast of Glee. It also currently features in the TV ad campaign for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 smartphone.

Blurred Lines falls one place to Number 2 on today’s Official Singles Chart Update, but not before clocking up an additional 50,000 sales so far this week.
The Wanted are on course for their eighth Top 5 hit this weekend with new single, Walks Like Rihanna, debuting at Number 3 on today’s Update. Will.I.Am’s Bang Bang climbs 38 places to Number 4, while Naughty Boy and Sam Smith’s La La La (5) completes today’s Top 5.
New Entries And High Climbers
The Voice winner Andrea Begley is on course for her first Top 40 hit this weekend; her cover of Evanescence’s My Immortal soars 56 places to Number 19, while the original is up 44 places to Number 30.
Meanwhile, runner-up Leah McFall is set to score her third Top 40 hit as I Will Always Love You rockets 63 places to Number 22. Leah’s renditions of I Will Survive and Killing Me Softly are at Number 24 and Number 34 today, respectively.
And finally, The Valley’s resident rapper, Leeroy Reed, is on course for his first Top 40 Hit with Can’t Get Enough FT Nagla which is new in at 27.
