Hozier challenging Ellie Goulding for singles top spot
Could this Sunday finally see Hozier claim the Number 1 with Take Me To Church?
The Irish singer-songwriter’s track is still at Number 2 on today’s Official Chart Update, behind reigning singles queen, Ellie Goulding and Love Me Like You Do.
Take Me To Church first entered the Top 100 26 weeks ago and has been steadily climbing the chart ever since. Check out his full week-by-week chart run here. Ed Sheeran recently set the record for the longest-climb to Number 1 from inside the Top 40 when Thinking Out Loud reached the summit after 19 weeks.
Meanwhile, Mark Ronson’s newly-announced million seller Uptown Funk is at Number 3, R&B singer b climbs from 10 to 4 with his Fifty Shades of Grey song Earned It, and Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s FourFiveSecondscompletes the Top 5.
New entries and high climbers
Dance trio Luvbug are new at Number 7 with Revive (Say Something). The group, which features former JLS star Marvin Humes, scored a Top 20 hit with their debut single Resonance last year.
Florence + The Machine land at 26 today with What Kind Of Man, the lead single from upcoming third studio album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
The final new entry on today’s Update is Keep Smiling (34) by Bars and Melody. The duo, who finished third in last year’s series of Britain’s Got Talent, scored a Top 5 hit last summer with their debut single Hopeful.
